Snooker: John Higgins to headline Indian Open

Four-time world champion and Scottish great John Higgins will be the star attraction in the fourth Indian Open world ranking snooker tournament, which will commence at Novotel Hotel (Visakhapatnam) on September 16.

Four-time world champion and Scottish great John Higgins will be the star attraction in the fourth Indian Open world ranking snooker tournament, which will commence at Novotel Hotel (Visakhapatnam) on September 16.

Stuart Bingham, Ricky Walden, Mark Allen, Stephen Maguire, Luca Brecel and David Gilbert are some of the other big names in the field.

Indian star Pankaj Advani has pulled out of the tournament due to personal reasons, it was announced at a press conference at KSBA here on Tuesday. Aditya Mehta will feature in the qualifying rounds. Laxman Rawat, Lucky Vatnani, Malkeet Singh, Srikrishna, Ashutosh Padhy and Pandurangaiah are the Indian wild card entries.

The tournament offers a total prize money of £3,00,000, and the winner will take home £50,000. The event will be broadcast live on Sony ESPN and Sony ESPN HD.
