Aditya Mehta lost little time in signalling his form when he gave Vipin Premi a few lessons on the green baize, in the men’s section of the National Snooker Championshop here on Thursday.

Mehta, a picture of composure, scored a fluent 3-0 victory with frame scores of 74-08, 79-48, 93-06.

In other matches, Dilip Kumar overcame veteran Rupesh Shah in an extended contest with frame scores of 28-65, 94-00, 65-56, 00-83, 62-56 while Bharat Sisodiya defeated Manish Jain in an exciting match at 62-27, 21-94, 56-62, 79-43, 67-59.

Rafath Habib faced little resistance from Manav Panchal and won at 60-52, 74-16, 54-53.

Keerat Bhandal of Delhi had a good outing when she won her respective contests in junior and senior snooker and junior billiards competitions. In billiards, she overcame Priyanka of Tamil Nadu 146-31 and tamed Kaivalya V of Karnataka 2-0 in junior snooker.

In senior billiards, Keerat made the next grade in the senior snooker section along with Amee Kamani, Vidya Pillai, Judy Walia. For Kamani, it was a mixed day as she reported late for her billiards encounter against R. Uma Devi, who was awarded a walkover.
