India's highest ranked squash player Joshna Chinappa entered the last 16 of the prestigious US Open, a PSA world series event, in Philadelphia.
The Indian star, ranked 13th in the world, had a tough fight on her hands as she came back from two games down to beat Egyptian Heba El Torky in the opening round of 32. The final score in Joshna's favour was 7-11, 4-11, 11-7, 12-10, 11-7.
The ninth seeded Indian next plays second seed Larra Massaro of England in the pre-quarterfinal.
However, it was not a good outing for Dipika Pallikal Karthik who succumbed to the relentless Amanda Sobhy of the US after putting up an initial resistance. Amanda won 7-11, 11-2, 11-1, 11-4.
