Leander enters quarterfinals in Chicago

Leander Paes in partnership with Miguel Angel Reyes-Varela of Mexico won a tough passage to the doubles quarterfinals of the $150,000 Challenger in the United States.

The Indo-Mexican pair beat Ruan Roelofse and John-Patrick Smith 7-6(4), 6-7(4), 10-7.

In the Challenger in Italy, Sumit Nagal was beaten in the pre-quarterfinals by Christian Garin of Chile in three sets. Sumit collected 15 ATP points including five for qualification.

In the ITF men’s Futures in Thailand, Karunuday Singh missed a match point in the 12th game of the second set and was beaten 6-3 in the decider by top seed Wishaya Tronggcharoenchaikul of Thailand.

In the ITF women’s event in Thailand, four-time National champion Prerna Bhambri knocked out top seed Bunyawi Thamchaiwat of Thailand 6-2, 6-3 in the quarterfinals.
