Stan Wawrinka returned to form in fine style as he hammered Albert Ramos-Vinolas in the second round of the Geneva Open.
The top seed and two-time grand slam champion has not gone beyond the quarterfinals of a tournament since winning the Dubai Tennis Championships in February.
He has also suffered surprise defeats to Andrey Kuznetsov, Nick Kyrgios and Juan Monaco but made no mistake this time around in his homeland on Tuesday.
World No. 4 Wawrinka needed just 53 minutes to thrash Ramos-Vinolas 6-1, 6-1 and set up a quarterfinal meeting with Pablo Carreno Busta, who overcame Inigo Cervantes 6-2, 6-4.
In the three first-round matches staged on Tuesday, defending champion Thomaz Bellucci beat Mikhail Kukushkin 6-2 6-1, Denis Istomin was a 6-2 6-3 winner over Florian Mayer and Rajeev Ram defeated Evgeny Donskoy 7-6 (7-5), 4-6, 6-3.
