AIBA Women's World C'ships: Jamuna reaches 54kg semis

India's Jamuna Boro reached the 54kg semifinals by defeating Ursula Gottlob of Germany at the AIBA Women's World Boxing Championships in Ulan Ude, Russia, on Thursday.

The win handed India its third medal in the competition, after the wins by M. C. Mary Kom and Manju Rani . After a fierce, aggressive quarterfinal battle, Jamuna registered a win via a 4:1 verdict.

En route to her place in the semifinals, Jamuna defeated Michidmaa Erdenedalai of Mongolia and Algeria's Sfouh Ouidad in the earlier rounds.

She will next face Huang Hsiao-Wen on Saturday, October 12.
