J. Arun Kumar appointed Puducherry coach

Puducherry has appointed two-time Ranji Trophy-winning coach J. Arun Kumar as its coach for the 2019-20 domestic season.

Former Karnataka batsman and two-time Ranji Trophy-winning coach, J. Arun Kumar will coach Puducherry in all three formats for the 2019-20 domestic season.

Last year, Arun Kumar was the coach of Siechem Madurai Panthers that won the title in the Tamil Nadu Premier League.  Under Kumar's tutelage, Karnataka won back-to-back domestic trebles - Ranji Trophy, Vijay Hazare Trophy and Irani Cup - for two years in succession in 2013-14 and 2014-15. The 44-year old also worked as the batting coach for IPL side Kings XI Punjab.

Puducherry will look for a change of fortunes in the upcoming season after it failed to progress beyond the group stage in the main domestic tournaments - Ranji Trophy, Vijay Hazare Trophy and Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
