RR vs DC Highlights, IPL 2023: Rajasthan Royals wins by 57 runs, Delhi Capitals sinks to third straight loss

Sandeep to bowl the last over. AND GONE! Nortje has been cleaned up as DC stares at a huge loss; its third defeat in a row. Done and dusted... Kuldeep runs a single off the last delivery. Only three come off the last over as DC succumbs to a 57-run loss.

Porel walks. Doesn’t get enough on it and it is a regulation take for Hetmyer at deep midwicket in the end. ANOTHER WICKET! Warner departs for 65. Awkwardly gets struck on the chest while trying to reverse sweep. The umpire has a long, hard look before raising his finger. The DC skipper goes for the review but the giant screen pops up three reds.

Warner moves to the top of the 2023 Orange Cap leaderboard! Porel batters Holder to deep extra cover for four. Danny Morrison in the comms box says Porel wanted to show Warner how it’s done.

The other Ashwin (Murugan) has been introduced into the attack. Warner goes for the reverse sweep off the very first ball; audacious but that lands well within the boundary. He gets a couple of runs for his efforts. Porel gets off the mark with a single off the fourth delivery he faces. THE BIG FISH! Warner, still searching for that one big hit, backs away and goes inside out. However, he ends up miscuing to Jaiswal at cover. SCRATCH ALL OF THAT... A no ball and free hit have been awarded. Turns out Jaiswal was standing just outside the 30-yard circle.

Warner finally reaches his half-century off 44 balls. However, there is still a mountain to climb. He raises his bat but the celebrations are somewhat muted. WICKET! Powell holes out to Hetmyer at deep midwicket. DC slips further as Ashwin picks up his second wicket. Abishek Porel, left-handed batter, comes to the crease.

Chahal replacing Boult. The leggie will be bowling his third over. Interestingly, impact player Murugan Ashwin is yet to be used. Warner lets out a frustrated cry as an attempt at a boundary is stopped at deep midwicket. STUMPED! Axar departs. Chahal catches him tracking down and pulls back on the length and pace. A slip in place for new man in, Powell.

Sandeep comes for his third. Axar drives down the ground for a single to get off the mark. A brilliant yorker from Sandeep Warner digs it out back to the bowler. FOUR! This is a half-volley on leg-stump and Warner whips this through a leaping midwicket fielder to find the boundary.

Boult bowls out. Beats Warner with one that leaves him after conceding a couple of singles off the first two balls. A slower waist-high back-of-a-length delivery and pulled for a single. FOUR! Length on fifth stump and Lalit pummels this over mid-off for a boundary. OUT! Gone next ball, clean bowled! Slower one, Lalit gets an inside edge onto the pads before the ball crashes into the stumps.

Holder comes back and is greeted with a boundary. Short and slow and Lalit pulls this and gets it over the keeper to the boundary. Too full on this occassion and Lalit whips this off his pads for two more at deep midwicket. Lalit dabs another slower one to short third for a single. Slower yorker to end the over and Warner flicks it off his pads for a single and keeps strike.

Chahal is here for his second over. FOUR! This is spinning away outside off and Lalit somehow gets some bat on this going for the reverse-sweep and gets it over short third for a boundary. FOUR! This is straighter and Lalit brings out the reverse-sweep again and gets four more. Swept by Lalit and this goes flat to deep square for a single. Warner pulls a short one away for two. Good over for Capitals.

Ashwin comes back. Warner goes back and cuts behind point for a single. Ashwin keeps it on a good length but also concedes two wides down leg-side. DC now needs 132 runs in the last 10 overs.

Boult comes back. FOUR! Warner pulls this to the backward square-leg fence and brings up 6,000 runs in the Indian Premier League. Punched through point by Lalit for four runs and then he gets a couple more next ball as 13 runs come from it.

Sandeep comes back. Jos Buttler is subbed out and Murugan Ashwin comes in as Impact Player. Six singles from the over and Warner should have got more as he missed a juicy full-toss.

Here comes Chahal. Just four singles from the over as the leg-spinner keeps it full.

Ashwin to bowl the last PowerPlay over. OUT! Rossouw goes for the reverse-sweep and Jaiswal takes a fine low catch at covers. Rajasthan has another wicket in the PowerPlay. Lalit Yadav comes in next. He gets off the mark with a couple.

Holder replaces Boult. FOUR! Too full angling across outside off and Warner pumps this over mid-off for a boundary. Beaten! Warner pokes at this length ball that jags away sharply and misses. FOUR! Mighty slash over point by Warner and 11 runs from the over for Delhi.

Ashwin into the attack. Three good deliveries, on a length and flighted and the batters prefer to defend. FOUR! Short and pulled away through midwicket by Warner to the boundary. Rossouw makes room and pushes down the ground for a single.

FOUR! Lucky boundary for Rossouw as he goes for a drive and ends up slicing the ball just over point. FOUR! Warner punches this through covers for his second boundary.

Sandeep Sharma starts off with a wide down leg-side. Angling across and moving away further and Warner is beaten poking outside off. FOUR! Warner is off the mark with a boundary as he pulls a slower one to the square-leg fence.

David Warner and Prtihvi Shaw will open for DC. Shaw comes in as Impact Player. Trent Boult with the ball. Shaw tucks the first ball off his hips and goes straight to leg gully. This comes drifts in a bit and Shaw misses and is hit on the back thigh. OUT! Outside edge and an incredible catch by Samson diving to his right. Shaw goes for another duck. OUT! Manish Pandey is gone next ball. Two wickets in two balls for Boult. Rilee Rossouw will face the hat-trick ball. And this whizzes past the outside edge to the keeper. Rossouw defends the last ball back to the bowler and double wicket maiden for Boult.

Nortje to bowl the last over. SIX! Hetmyer starts off with a six. Back-of-a-length and Hetmyer pulls this for a 96-metre six. Low full-toss next ball and thumped down the ground for just a single. Miscued pull from Jurel and just one at fine-leg. SIX! Cracking shot. Slower one, back-of-a-length and Hetmyer swats this over long-off. Full-toss and drilled down the ground for a couple. Last ball coming up. RR has 199 on the board. A perfect yorker and dot to end.

Here comes Nortje. Comes around the wicket. Hetmyer swings and misses as the ball misses off-stump by a whisker. Dropped! Hetmyer looks to clear this full-toss but only sends it high in the sky. Lalit runs in from deep midwicket, dives forward but the ball bursts through his hands. FOUR! Buttler shuffles across and scoops this length ball to the fine-leg fence. FOUR! Full-toss on the stumps and Buttler doesn’t time this at all but the connection is good enough to send it to the long-off boundary.

Powell continues. Goes wide coming across to Hetmyer. Not called wide and Buttler reviews it. It doesn’t matter as the siren goes off and it’s a no-ball for over-stepping. Hetmyer gets only a single off the free-hit with a slog sweep to wide long-on. Powell comes around the wicket to Buttler and he shuffles across the swings across the line for just a single at deep square. SIX! In the slot on fourth stump and Hetmyer shovels this down the ground for a maximum. FOUR! Too full again and Hetmyer slices this over covers for another boundary. Powell goes for wide yorker and Hetmyer reaches out for it and just gets one and keeps strike.

Mukesh comes back. Buttler and Hetmyer still struggling to time the ball. Buttler hacks across the line desperately but only gets a couple at deep midwicket. FOUR! At last a boundary for Royals. Slightly over-pitched and Buttler picks this up on the full and scoops it to the fine-leg boundary. FOUR! Too full again and Buttler drills this down the ground for another boundary.

Kuldeep bowls out. Buttler slices one over cover for a couple and then goes for the reverse-sweep next ball but straight to point. Kuldeep ends with one for 31 from four overs.

Rovman Powell comes on to bowl. Slower one goes down leg and called wide. Parag fails to connect another pull and only gets a bottom edge to long-on for a single. The lack of pace isn’t helping the Royals as the batters have little pace to work with. Buttler pulls a full-toss only as far as deep square for a single. OUT! Parag is cleaned up! Slower one, shaping in with the angle and Parag misses a wild heave across the line. Shimron Hetmyer is in next.

Axar bowls out. SIX! Buttler sends this sailing over wide long-on and brings up his fifty off 32 balls. Time for a strategic time out.

Kuldeep continues. Another tight over. Just five runs from it. Parag miscues to pull shots that should have sent Kuldeep’s two rank half-trackers to the boundary. Buttler then mistimed a couple of reverse-sweeps.

Axar comes back for his third over. Just four runs from the over as Axar keeps a lid on the scoring with his lengths, which range from short to a good length. He also varies his pace well.

Kuldeep with the ball. Buttler gets a couple off the first ball and 100 up for RR in 9.1 overs. Buttler places the ball at midwicket and hares for a couple. OUT! Samson goes for a duck. This was piched up and Samson went for a big heave but could only toe-end it to the long-on fielder. Riyan Parag comes in next. Almost gone first ball as Parag gets a leading edge and Kuldeep dives to his left but the ball just evades him.

Mukesh is brought back. A couple of singles to start the over. Mukesh has been one of the better bowlers today. Just going for seven in his first over. OUT! And now he gets a wicket! Short, Jaiswal gets a top edge on the pull and Mukesh takes the catch off his own bowling. Sanju Samson comes at one-drop. He starts off with a couple of dots. Make it three as he darts in a slower bouncer and Samson just lets it go.

FOUR! Lucky boundary for Buttler. He looks to cut this widish delivery outside off but gets a bottom edge that runs away behind to the boundary. SIX! Jaiswal is unstoppable. Steps out, gets to the pitch of the ball and sends this sailing over long-off for a 86-metre maximum. FOUR! Dropped short and Buttler goes back and pulls this behind square-leg to end the over with a boundary.

Axar continues. Around the stumps to Jaiswal. On a length and a Jaiswal flicks the first ball through mid-on for a single. FOUR! Axar is angling it away from the left-hander but gives too much width on this occassion and Jaiswal cuts this behind point to find the boundary. FOUR! Jaiswal brings up his fifty off 25 balls with a boundary. He flicks a length ball to the midwicket fence.

Nortje to bowl the bowl the last over of the PowerPlay. Jaiswal gets a single off the third ball with a gentle push to mid-off. FOUR! Pitched full on middle and Buttler lofts this over extra-cover for four more. A couple of dots to end the over and DC will breathe a sigh of relief with the PowerPlay done and dusted. They have sustained some serious damage, conceding 14 boundaries in six overs. Time to recoup in the middle-overs now through their spinners.

Axar replaces Mukesh. FOUR! Jaiswal goes for the reverse-sweep and gets some glove on it which is enough to take it to the third man rope. FOUR! This is more authoritative as Jaiswal cuts this behind point with some deft footwork against the spinner. FOUR! Full toss on leg-stump and Jaiswal sweeps this to the boundary behind square. Three consecutive fours again for Jaiswal.

FOUR! Khaleel comes back, offers width outside off and Jaiswal whips this through point for another boundary. Next one is wide outside off and Khaleel is feeling the pressure. He darts one down leg-side and Buttler looks to tuck it behind but misses. Wide called but DC review and there is a spike as the ball brushes Buttler’s gloves. Dropped! Nortje drops Buttler in the deep. He does well to get to the ball but fails to hold on to the catch.

Mukesh replaces Khaleel. Jaiswal pushes to mid-off and takes a single. FOUR! Buttler picks this length bal from outside off and lifts this over mid-off to find the rope. Jaiswal cuts off the backfoot for a single behind point and keeps strike.

Nortje from the other end. FOUR! Buttler also finds the boundary off the third ball. Pushed through covers with ease. FOUR! Streaky boundary here for Buttler. Throws his bat at this outside off delivery and gets an outside edge to the third-man fence. FOUR! Anothe boudary to end the over and 12 runs come from it. Eight fours in the innings and all runs so far have come from boundaries for the Royals.
