KL Rahul blasted his way into IPL record books when he scored the fastest fifty in the tournament of only 14 balls on Sunday at the PCA Stadium in Mohali.
Chasing a target of 167 against Delhi Daredevils, Rahul's landmark knock set the tone for the Kings XI innings. Of the 14 balls faced, he hit six boundaries while clearing the fence on four occasions.
The record, previously, was held by Sunil Narine and Yusuf Pathan while playing for Kolkata Knight Riders; they took 15 deliveries to achieve the feat. While Narine put Royal Challengers Bangalore to the sword in 2017 at the Eden Gardens, Pathan demolished the Sunrisers Hyderabad bowling line-up in 2014.
Rahul was bought by Kings XI for a whopping Rs. 11 crore in the IPL auction in January.
