Team India’s incumbent administrative manager, Sunil Subramaniam, who found himself in the middle of a controversy last week for misbehaving with senior officials from the country’s High Commissions in the West Indies, was the notable candidate to have lost his job.

The MSK Prasad-led panel zeroed in on Girish Dongre, followed by Venkatesh Rajagopalan and Anand Yalvigi for the role.

“We have seen the most experienced guy (Dongre) in this department, who has been in it for last 10 years and he was the most appreciated guy when any foreign teams come to India, so his 10 years of experience went his way,” Prasad said.

“There were quite a few good people, who came for the interview. Among them, we have decided it is Girish Dongre, Venkatesh Rajagopalan and Anand Yalvigi. This person (Girish Dongre) had played for three different states and has got 10 years of corporate experience,” Prasad said, explaining the reason behind choosing Dongre.
