Listen in to our talking points from this game

uan Ferrando says, "I am not 100% happy. First half we had no good feelings. Two times from throw ins and we lost position [for the goal]. I want our team to There was short imt with pre-season and it's the same for other teams. 100% performance in 90 minutes is not easy. [Subs made] After the 0-2, you can watch the game, Bengaluru's defensive lines were close to each other. I put in one no 6 and two no. 10s [Brandon and Noguera]. It's easy for wingers to play but the timing to find space was crucial. I prefer to win but also happy with 2-2 because it was the first point for us.

Carles Cuadrat says, "It was a good game with a lot of goal and emotions. We have to understand Goa is a great team with wonderful players We did out best and our players were tired with a short pre-season so it's understandable. match plan was to take advantage of their possession play with counter attacks and set pices. we had a lot of space on the counter but we lacked the final passes. [Chhetri sub] We tried to avoid injuries. We had to take of Cleiton at start of second half because he was exhausted. The guys understood what was needed on the pitch. We weren't able to make the subs we wanted in between the goals they scored in four minutes. I think it was a fair result in the end."

Igor Angulo, named man of the match, says, "Happy to score 2 goals. Hope I can help my team win next game with my goals. Two good passes from my teammates. We know they are a very good team from set pieces and they proved that today. There is no time for resting and we have a tough game next up (vs MCFC). I know some players and coaches from Goa are now at Mumbai. They (Mumbai) are a good team in the competition like Bengaluru."

Reaction from both camps coming up...

Bengaluru showed why its among the most tactically astute teams for the first 60 odd minutes and why its the most dangerous set-piece team in the tournament. Ferrando made the right calls with his changes in the second half after a lacklustre first half. The tempo of its play and speed of passing improved particularly with Brandon coming on. He played his part in both goals for Goa. Igor Angulo has started well in showing the Goan fans may not miss Coro afterall.  Two goals in the space of 5 minutes when Goa was all over Bengaluru and the Blues' shape creaked.

SECOND HALF

FULL-TIME. A match which lived to its billing. Points shared between the season's contenders.

90'+3' Naughty from Ashique... He elbows Bedia in his gut.  But Ortiz is booked for bringing down Ashique earlier.

90'+1' Shot from distance by Ortiz is palmed behind by Gurpreet for a corner.

Four minutes of added time.

89' Gurpreet comes out of his line to collect a cross from the right.

88' Brandon's free-kick is smashed into the wall and Brown goes down clutching his face.  He receives some attention the team doctor.

87' Free-kick just outside BFC's box after Noguera is felled by Dimas after having the ball robbed off him. Brandon Fernandes territory.

Khabra takes on the armband.

86' BFC SUB: Chhetri OFF, Leon Augustin ON.

84' A ball floated into the Goa box and Nawaz leaps high to push the ball away from the head of Brown.

83' Through ball into the feet of Angulo breaking BFC's defensive line, but the referee flags offside. BFC can breathe easy.

81' Cross in from the left and Brown goes foer the acrobatic effort with the ball played slightly behind him. It's a corner for BFC.

78' Suresh finds himself in the edge of Goa's box, cuts into the left and makes a hash of a shot from distance with his weaker foot.

77' Ortiz, who is on a yellow, brings down Suresh. Foul called.

75' Nope. This is the official drinks break. The players managed to sneak in a drinks break earlier after an injury concern.

75' Bedia scissors down Suresh with a tackle. He finds his way into the referee's notebook.

73' Dimas with a set-piece duty to begin his night which is headed by Juanan for a goal kick.

Bengaluru needs someone like Dimas to control the central area, where Goa is dominating at the moment.

72' BFC SUB: Cleiton OFF, Dimas ON

Drinks break called on. Breather for BFC

69' GOAL! Goa 2-2 Bengaluru! It's Angulo again! It's Brandon again! Brandon finds the run of Romario's on the right and the winger fizzes in a hard cross into the six yard area where Angulo chests it into the net. Ferrando punches the air in delight with the comeback. What a last twenty minutes we have on our hands.

66' GOAL! Angulo pulls one back for Goa! The substitutions make the difference. Brandon finds Noguera with vertical pass between the lines. The midfielder slips in a through ball to Angulo past the BFC defence and the striker slots the ball past Gurpreet into the far corner.

GOA SUBS: Donachie, Lenny OFF; Noguera, Aiban ON

64' Set piece on he right for BFC. Gonzalez goes down inside the box but referee isn't interested.

63' Ortiz cuts in from the left with a click over Khabra, checks past Gonzalez but Juanan comes over to over the danger;.

62' Bengaluru had a three on 2 break opportunity but the skipper's ball from the left is cut off.

60' BFC SUB: Bheke ON, Udanta OFF

57' GOAL! Juanan gets on the scoresheet! It's another long thrown in from the left and Bengaluru's big men plays head tennis in the box to set up Juanan. Brown flicks on for Paartalu, who heads it across goal for Juanan to sweep it high into the roof of the net. They had the freedom of Fatorda to complete the move.

56' Goa SUB: Brandon, Romario ON; Princeton, Doungel OFF

55' Referee calls foul on Bedia nicking the ball off Brown from behind. He gets the ball, but also gets Brown too. Goa skipper isn't happy with that.

53' Corner for Goa after Gonzalez heads the ball behind after a cross from Sanson.

50' Goa dominating possession in the opening 5 minutes. Both Seriton and Sanson are pushing high up to join the attacks. BFC remains firm at the back, cutting out the crosses.

There is some urgency in Goa's attack in the second half. They are moving the ball with quicker than its ponderous approach in the first 45.

46' Goa gets the second half underway. A yellow card for Angulo for a foul on Fran Gonzalez.

BFC SUB: Opseth OFF, Brown IN

FIRST HALF

Goa has the option of 5 subs to make to turn this around. Is Brandon fit enough to play the 2nd 45 minutes? Noguero is another player to watch out for. Goa struggled to control the midfield in the first half.

It's half-time. Goa has been sloppy with it passing in the first 45 minutes. No cutting edge in its attack, hard to understand what its doing in attack. Bengaluru, which had the meanest defence last season, has frustrated Goa with its shape and discipline. BFC had only 35 per cent possession but it wouldn't mind that one bit.

45' + 2' First shot on target for Goa. Seriton with a cross from the right and Angulo connects with a header, which finds the hands of Gurpreet.

Two minutes of added time

42' Ball is played into Opseth's feet and he checks to the left and plays a backheel onto the path of Chhetri, who makes a complete hash out of his shot. Goa living dangerously.

Doungel with a poor foul on Ashique from behind. He is a lucky boy.

40' Ortiz gets past Khabra on the left but his cross is nowhere close to the men inside the box.

38' Ivan with a run from his own half is fouled near the centre circle.

34' Yellow card for Suresh Wangjam. He clatters into Ortiz from behind. Yellow card for Goa's Doungel too. That's his third foul of the night.

Drinks break called for. Cuadrat and his men will be happy with that start. Goa is finding Bengaluru tough to break down. Ferrando was unhappy with the manner in which his team conceded that opening goal. How will they respond now?

30' Ortiz's free-kick from the left, which comes through a host of bodies, is collected well by Gurpreet.

27' GOAL! Bengaluru FC takes the lead! Cleiton Silva with a powerful header from a long throw in from the left by Khabra. A flick on from Ospeth inside the box and no Goa defender can get a clearance in which allows Silva to get away from his marker and fire a header into the net. The set-piece specialists does it again. BFC had 12 goals from dead ball situations last season.

24' No real imagination from Goa's midfield in breaking down Bengaluru's deep defending. The numbers at the back are able to cut off the passing lanes to Angulo and Ortiz.

20' Referee says no more let offs for Doungel. He fouls Ashique on the right side. "That's two now. No more," he says.

Early signs but Goa looks a much-changed side from the days of Lobera. Not much of quick interplay between its forwards and midfielders. They are looking for the early through balls to find Ortiz and Angulo to run on goal.

15' An over-elaborate set-piece from Bengaluru with three decoys comes to nothing...

13' Princeton wins the ball off Paartalu and plays it into the feet of Angulo. But the striker can't take the ball into his stride.

11' First corner of the night. Seriton nicks the ball off the feet of Ashique on the left side. Angulo is back to head the corner away from danger.

10' No real attacking move from BFC in the first 10 minutes. The Blues are happy to concede possession to Goa and look to hit on the break. Ball breaks to Cleiton on the right but he has no support with him. Ball turns over to Goa.

8' Ashique cuts in from the left into the middle, dancing past two defenders and unleashes a shot on target from 30 yards. Nawaz has it covered and collects on the bounce.

6' A slow tempo start thus far with both sets of players having some misplaced passes. Goa long early which releases Ortiz down the left but he is flagged offisde.

2' Some melee outside the Goa box before Chhetri gets a punt in from distance, which fizzes past the far post.

1' Bengaluru gets the ball rolling from right to left in blue. Goa in its orange kits.

7.25 pm: The players make their way out to the middle. BFC first, followed by Goa. National anthem are done. New-look Goa vs new-look (read: hair) Bengaluru. I spot four BFC players with buns on their heads.

7.18 pm: It's not a Bengaluru FC season without its skipper Sunil Chhetri. While at the fag end of his career, he is hungry to get that ACL Champions League spot for his beloved BFC. READ

7.10 pm: Big night for the highly-rated Princeton Rebello. After 8 sub appearances, the 21-year-old makes his first start for his hometown club. He will likely play in the no. 10 role.

6.54 pm: Bedia, who didn't play much of last season and reportedly had a fallout with his former coach Sergio Lobera, gets a new lease of life under Ferrando. He is named the skipper of the club and starts tonight. Here's what he had to say about Goa's new campaign. - READ

6.46 pm: Ferrando has dropped Brandon Fernandes, who had the most assists for an Indian player last season and a dead ball specialist. Ortiz and Doungel provide pace and width down the flanks. Left-back Sanson makes his debut with Savior Gama serving out his suspension from last season. James Donachie, also known as 'Don', is supposedly a beast of a central defender.

6.43 pm: Interesting call from both managers. Cuadrat has dropped Dimas and has trusted a midfield two of Suresh Wangjam and Erik Paartalu. But the addition of Fran Gonzalez, who has the ability to play in midfield, allows them to change systems within the game. From 3-4-3, BFC can switch to 2-5-3 in attack with Gonzalez pushing further forward. The Spaniard had 10 goals for Mohun Bagan in the I-League last season.
