The comeback from India was nullified to an extent when Netherlands scored two goals in three minutes to level the scores at 5-5. The contest eventually moved on to a penalty shootout, which was clinched by Rupinder Pal Singh's goal. Rupinder had, in the course of the game, scored two goals for India.
P. R. Sreejesh played with an injury and saved a number of attempts at goal, including the penalty shootout. He was adjudged the fan's player of the tournament.
