A moment of magic from Ajay Kumar propelled Bengaluru Bulls to a 31-25 victory over Bengal Warriors, at the Mankapur Indoor Stadium here on Wednesday.
With the scores tied at 16-16, Ajay achieved a rare feat, when he took out four defenders in a bumper raid. The glorious effort enabled Bengaluru to force an all-out and take a 24-18 lead. Bengal was unable to close this gap, and fell to a first defeat in three matches. Bengaluru recorded its third win in six outings.
Until Ajay’s decisive play, there was little to separate the two sides. Bengal’s Jang Kun Lee established himself as the master of back-heel touches, taking out antis with agile taekwondo-style kicks. Bengaluru’s Ravinder Pahal had his moment under the spotlight as well, when he pulled off a difficult tackle all on his own. His skipper Rohit Kumar - often overburdened with attacking duties – recorded six points.
The result
Bengaluru Bulls 31 (Ajay Kumar 8) bt Bengal Warriors 25 (Jang Kun Lee 8).
