Bengaluru Bulls' Pawan Sehrawat made the headlines again, on Wednesday, when he scored a mammoth 39 raid points minutes to break Pardeep Narwal's two-year old record for most raid points in a Pro Kabaddi League (PKL 2019) match.

The stand-in captain of the defending champion achieved this feat at the Tau Devilal Sports Complex in Panchkula against the home side Haryana Steelers.

The record was previously held by Patna's skipper Pardeep, who scored 34 points against the same team in the fifth edition of the league.

Pawan, last season's MVP, set the tone in the first half of the match as he bagged 18 points to help his side recover from an eight-point deficit to lead 28-18 at half-time. It was also the record for most raid points in a half.

Pawan's glorious moment arrived the with five minutes left in the second half when he sent Kuldeep Singh back to the bench with a running hand touch to score his 35th point of the night. The cameras then panned to Pardeep, who was seen smiling after witnessing the historic moment from the stands.

Earlier in the season, the Delhi-born raider of Bengaluru racked up 29 points against Bengal Warriors and fell agonisingly close to breaching the record. However, on Wednesday, he ensured history didn't repeat itself.

With this mind-boggling performance, he also became the first raider to score all his team's raid points. The 'Hi-Flyer' put in 38 raids and and in the process, clinched 10 touch points off the same defender in Vikas Kale.

Pawan broke into the limelight last year by finishing as the league's top raider with 271 points. He has already bettered that tally this year with 281 points from 20 matches. With two league games and the playoffs remaining, he is bound to add many more to his tally.
