Del Potro wins Stockholm Open

The 2009 US Open champion Juan Martin del Potro did not face a solitary break point as he defeated sixth seed Sock 7-5, 6-1 in an hour and 16 minutes.

Del Potro took four of the nine break point opportunities that came his way, denying the world number 23 from the United States a second ATP singles title.

The Olympic silver medallist rose to the occasion on Centre Court, losing just seven points on serve in a performance which bodes well for next season as he attempts to return to the peak of his powers.

Sock proved to be a match for Del Potro in the first set until the wildcard entry broke to lead 6-5 and served out the set.

It was far more straightforward for the towering world number 63 in the second as Sock was swept aside and Del Potro won his first event for 33 months at a canter.
