Rohan Bopanna in partnership with Andre Sa of Brazil beat Robin Haase and Dominic Inglot 7-6(4), 3-6, 11-9 in the doubles semifinals of the Aegon International ATP tennis tournament in Eastbourne on Friday.

The Indo-Brazilian pair which had won two rounds on Thursday, will challenge the top-seeded Bob Bryan and Mike Bryan in the final.

‘’Am playing good confident tennis and enjoying it a lot these days. So, that is really helping me’’, said Bopanna, who will be competing with his erstwhile partner from 2013, Edouard Roger Vesselin in Wimbledon, as his regular partner of the season Pablo Cuevas of Uruguay is injured.

Davis Cupper Pranjenesh Gunneswaran was in fine form as he outplayed compatriot Karunuday Singh 6-1, 6-1 in the quarterfinals of the $25,000 ITF men’s Futures in China.

In Colombo, top-seed Sumit Nagal made the quarterfinals along with Sidharth Rawat, as both beat former national champions Mohit Mayur and VM Ranjeet respectively, in three sets each.

In the ITF women’s event in Egypt, former Asian junior champion Pranjala Yadlapalli and Kanika Vaidya made the quarterfinals in contrasting style. Pranjala dismissed Francesca Sella of Italy for the loss of two games, while Kanika survived three matchpoints at 3-6 in the third set tie-break and converted her seventh matchpoint for a thrilling 3-6, 6-4, 7-6(8) victory over Elba Kasum of Austria.

The 24-year-old Kyra Shroff won her 10th doubles title in the professional circuit and the second with Estelle Cascino of France in the ITF women’s event in Tel Aviv.
