Zimbabwe's Brian Vitori has been suspended from bowling in international cricket for 12 months after his action was deemed illegal. Fast bowler Vitori has received the ban following an independent assessment of his action in Pretoria this month, which found that some of his deliveries exceeded the 15-degree level of tolerance.

The assessment came after Vitori's action was called into question by match officials during a tri-series final against Sri Lanka on November 27.

Vitori was previously banned from bowling in January but was allowed to resume in June on the back of remedial work on his action and subsequent reassessment.

With the report of a suspect action being Vitori's second in a two-year period, the 12-month ban was automatically triggered. Vitori is allowed to appeal any procedural aspect of the assessment, though he cannot approach the ICC for reassessment until the end of his ban.
