Read match report:
Despite a great show by the Chennaiyin FC defense, Jamshedpur FC had its chances. However, Owen Coyle's men failed to convert any of them. In the end, a solitary first-half goal from Lukasz Gikiewicz sealed the win for Chennaiyin which has now overtaken Jamshedpur to move to fifth spot in the points table. The losing side has slipped to sixth.
FULL TIME: Jamshedpur FC 0-1 Chennaiyin FC
90+4' There's some argument going on between Jamshedpur manager Owen Coyle and the fourth official. It has been a frustrating night for JFC and it is visible on its manager's face.
90+3' Damjanovic misses a Jamshedpur cross but debutant Sajid Doht clears it and JFC gets only a throw-in.
90+1' SUBSTITUTION - Rahim Ali comes in for Murzaev.
Five minutes of stoppage time
90' Corner for Jamshedpur as a long pass from the halfway line is cleared by Sajid Doht. However, the corner kick finds a CFC head and no harm done. Still, Chennaiyin leads 1-0.
88' Desperation creeping in in Jamshedpur's play. It has been that kind of a match where it has just not been able to provide the finishing touch.
85' MISS!!! And now he has done it himself. Murray received a brilliant cross just in front of the goal. He probably should have tried to hit it at the very first time but he tried to control it and it was enough for Chennaiyin to avoid the danger.
84' BOOKING! Yellow card for Gikiewicz as he tried to block Rehenesh from taking the goal kick.
83' BOOKING! Yellow card for Lima
82' MISS!!! This was Jamshedpur's chance. Murray put it on a platter for Ishan Pandita to place in into the far corner from six yards but I don't know how he has managed to send it wide.
80' Just ten minutes plus stoppage time left for Jamshedpur to salvage something from this game. Chennaiyin has literally put its body on the line to defend the one-goal lead.
79' Thapa takes the free kick and sends it into the box. Easy work for Rehenesh as he pouches it safely.
77' Drinks break
76' Free kick for Chennaiyin FC as Ritwik Das fouls Murzaev on the left flank.
74' SUBSTITUTION - Chennaiyin substitutes Koman with Chhangte.
73' SHOT!!! Stewart astutely keeps the ball in possession inside the CFC box before taking the shot. Debjit saves it but the rebound finds Murray who sends the shot way over the bar.
71' Mobashir sends in the cross from the right but it misses everyone to find Ricky on the left flank. Ricky tries to send a cross himself and gets a deflection off a CFC defender for a corner.
69' SHOT! Murzaev says, "If Stewart can try, why not me?" as he tried to score one from 30 yards.
67' SUBSTITUTION - double change for Jamshedpur as Ishan Pandita and Mobashir Rahman come on for Boris Singh and Jitendra Singh.
66' SHOT! Stewart saw that Debjit was off his line and went for an audacious effort from the halfway line. However, no harm done to CFC.
64' SAVE!! Murzaev takes the free kick and the ball heads towards the goal but Rehenesh takes no chance and palms it over to safety.
64' SUBSTITUTION - Chennaiying sends in Vanspaul for Germanpreet.
63' Steaming run from Thapa and Lima is forced to foul him. Fortunately for JFC, it's on the edge of the box and not inside it.
59' Great shielding from Gahlot as he sees the ball go out for a JFC goal kick before Thapa could reach it.
58' OFFSIDE! Murzaev sees Jerry making his way towards the JFC box and lobs the ball. However, Jerry mistimes his run and the assistant referee raises the offside flag.
56' Boris takes the ball near the CFC box waiting for the perfect time to send in the cross but he takes one touch too many and the ball goes out for a Chennaiyin goal kick.
54' Renthlei puts Ritwik through on the right flank who sends in the cross for Jitendra but Chennaiyin clears it away.
51' A misplaced pass from Thapa near his own box found a JFC player who then passed it to Stewart. Stewart tried to place himself before taking a shot from the edge of the box but the time he takes is enough for Damjanovic to put in a perfect sliding tackle. The deflection finds Ritwik Das but he shoots it well wide of the goal.
49' Thapa puts in the cross from the left flank for Gikiewicz but Hartley and Gahlot double-team on him and the Polish forward is unable to do anything.
48' BOOKING! Foul by Ricky on Gikiewicz on the right flank inside his own half gets him a yellow card issued and a free kick for Chennaiyin.
47' Positive start from JFC in the second half as it weaves a string of passes before Stewart sends a cross from the right side of the box but Damjanovic blocks it safely.
46' SUBSTITUTION - Ritwik Das is on to replace Doungel for Jamshedpur.
SECOND HALF BEGINS!
In the first match of the day, Kerala Blasters played an exciting 2-2 draw against FC Goa. Check out the highlights here:
Jamshedpur had the better start but it is Bozidar Bandovic's Chennaiyin FC that is 1-0 ahead at half-time courtesy of a 31st minute header from Lukasz Gikiewicz. Will Jamshedpur be able to bounce back? Stay tuned for second half.
HALF-TIME: Jamshedpur FC 0-1 Chennai FC
Two minutes of added time
45' MISS! A rather uncharacteristic miscue from Stewart after Murray's pass finds him inside the box with ample time and space to hit it on target.
43' Stewart takes the corner and whips it in for Doungel but he fails to get his head on the ball.
42' Lima moves towards the CFC box looking to pass the ball to Murray but it had too much in it. However, a mistake while in possession of the ball via Damjanovic gifts JFC a corner.
40' Corner taken by Thapa who sends it for Gikiewicz at the far post but Rehenesh punches it away for another CFC corner kick.
39' Counter attack from Chennaiyin. Jerry moves quickly towards the box before sending a cross hoping to find Gikiewicz. However, Renthlei blocks it and the deflection goes dangerously towards the JFC goal before Rehenesh punches it over for a CFC corner.
35' Koman puts Jerry through on the left flank. Finding no one inside the box, Jerry still takes the shot but Rehenesh nearly spills it for Gikiewicz who charged to hit the rebound into the back of the net.
32' Cooling break
31' GOOOAAAALLLLLLL!!!!!! Free header at the back post for Gikiewicz and there's no way he is going to miss it from six yards. Chennaiyin FC 1-0 Jamshedpur FC. It was a good cross from the left flank from Koman and no JFC defender was marking the Polish forward. Wonder if Rehenesh could have come ahead to punch the ball away.
29' Tussle between Renthlei and Jerry for the ball near the halfway line leaves Jerry on the floor.
28' Free-kick for JFC taken by Lima. He sends it into the box hoping to find the head of one of his JFC teammates but he only manages to hit it straight to Debjit.
26' Koman saw Gikiewicz free inside the box and went for the cross. Unfortunately, the pass had too much power in it and Rehenesh easily pouched the ball at the far post before Gikiewicz could reach there.
25' Thapa wins another corner for CFC but the JFC defender at the near post clears it off for a throw-in.
23' Free kick from quite a distance taken by Murzaev goes blazing over the bar. Can't blame him for trying because we have seen some long-range stunners in this season, haven't we?
22' BOOKING! Murzaev took off with the ball but Narender Gahlot missed the ball and instead caught Murzaev. Gahlot is issued a yellow card.
20' Poor effort from Doungel. Stewart did all the hard work before passing it to Doungel who just turned and hit a tame shot straight into the palms of Debjit, who has replaced Vishal Kaith for this game.
17' Accurate throw-in found Stewart inside the box who took the shot. It looked as if it had taken a deflection off Thapa but the referee has said it's a CFC goal-kick.
16' Long pass from mid line from Ricky for Boris but CFC defender clears it for a JFC throw-in.
15' It's been an even game so far in terms of possession - Jamshedpur 48 percent, Chennaiyin 52 percent.
13' A difficult long pass sent by CFC player to Thapa who made a great effort the ball had just too much in it for him to control it. Goal kick for JFC.
10' SHOT! Renthlei provided a cross from the left of the box. Stewart placed the ball before taking the shot via his left foot and it nearly missed the top left corner of the goal.
7' MISS! Sajid, the latest signing for JFC, had a free header courtesy of a perfect corner kick taken by Thapa but he hit it over the bar.
6' Lalrinzuala took the throw-in and passed the ball to Gikiewicz who put Thapa through. Thapa wins the first corner of the match for JFC.
4' CHANCE! Doungel got a great cross from the left of the box but he mishits it and CFC takes a sigh of relief. Good early pressure from Jamshedpur.
3' Throw-in for Chennaiyin as Gahlot's clearance from JFC's half goes out.
1' Murray provides the ball to Stewart who was inside the box but the Chennaiyin defense stood like a rock and didn't allow him the chance to take a shot.

MATCH PREVIEW: ISL 2021-22: Chennaiyin looking for a turn of fortunes against Jamshedpur
Chennaiyin FC will hope to have a better fortune in 2022 when it takes on Jamshedpur FC at GMC Athletic Stadium in Bambolim on Sunday after ending the last year with three losses in its last four matches.
The two-time champion has had a terrible run with heavy losses against Kerala Blasters FC and Bengaluru FC in its last two matches.
The team’s strength in the initial set of matches was a compact defence and did not concede a lot of goals even as it struggled to score frequently.
However, in the last few matches, the tight defence has been brutally exposed against quality sides and combined with a lack of attacking firepower, the team has been caught on the backfoot.
Goalkeeper Vishal Kaith has also been poor in front of the goal and the team paid the price for his errors in the last match against Bengaluru FC. Coach Bozidar Bandovic on Saturday hinted that there might be a change of custodian on Sunday.
The one positive news for CFC is the signing of striker Nerijus Valskis from Jamshedpur FC on a free transfer. The Lithuanian is expected to add teeth to its attacking front after Rafael Crivellaro was ruled out for the rest of the season, though he won’t be available for Sunday’s fixture.

Jamshedpur FC has had two draws in the last two matches and will hope to take advantage of CFC's weak defence and get three points.
“Everybody would accept that Jamshedpur has done really well and deserve more points on the board. What we have to do is focus on the remaining games and make sure we keep ourselves in those top spots," said JFC coach Owen Coyle.
