Bajrang Punia tasted maximum success in 2018 as he claimed a string of medals in different elite international competitions.
The 24-year-old collected a bronze at the Asian championships in Bishkek (Kyrgyzstan) and a gold in the Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast (Australia)
An Asian Games gold in Jakarta established himself as the best wrestler from the country in men's freestyle 65kg category.
Bajrang, hailing from Khudan village of Jhajjar district in Haryana, capped the year with a World championships silver medal in Budapest (Hungary) and became the first Indian wrestler to secure two medals in the elite event.
He also became the first Indian wrestler to achieve number one ranking in the world.
His dedication and his improved game, Bajrang is the main medal hope for India in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
