7.32 PM: Liam Livingstone goes to Royals for Rs. 75 lakh. Thisara Perera, Ben McDermott, Matthw Wade, Sean Abbott, Siddhesh Lad, Tajinder Dhillon, Prerak Mankad go unsold. Suyash Prabhudessai is picked by RCB for Rs. 20 lakh. RCB gets K.S. Bharat for an opening bid of Rs. 20 lakh.

7.27 PM: Dan Christain, who won the BBL with Sydney Sixers and has a base price of Rs. 75 lakh, attracts bids from RCB and KKR. The bid is up to Rs. 4 Crore... He is sold to RCB for Rs. 4.80 Crore. 272 runs and 15 wickets for Christian at the 2020/21 BBL.

7.21 PM: Jalaj Saxena is sold to Punjab at Rs. 30 lakh. Karn Sharma goes unsold. Utkarsh Singh is sold to Punjab for Rs. 20 lakh. KL Shrijith goes unsold. Vaibhav Arora is sold to KKR for Rs. 20 lakh. Australia's Ben Dwarshuis remains unsold.  G. Periyasamy goes unsold.  The highly-rated Fabian Allen sold to Punjab for Rs. 75 lakh.

Zinta on Tamil Nadu's Shahrukh Khan "I told Aryan (SRK’s son, who was present in the auction for KKR). It was kind of sweet. I am waiting to call him up and tell him that. I am getting a lot of messages from people, asking - ‘who is this Shah Rukh Khan?’ I am hoping that he shows on the ground who he is to everybody out there. We are excited to have him. So, let’s wait and watch.”

Punjab Kings' Preity Zinta "We still have a few players to buy. The bidding has been aggressive but you know how it is! If there is someone really want, we go for it. I do get some kicks from under the table, but yeah."

31 out of the 61 slots in the IPL 2021 auction are filled.

6.21 PM: Varun Aaron, Oshane Thomas, Mohit Sharma go unsold. Billy Stanlake remains unsold as well. Mitchell McClenaghan and Jason Beherendorff go unsold. Naveen ul Haq goes unsold.

6.15 PM: Marnus Labuschagne is next. The Aussie remains unsold. Moises Henriques attracts bids from Punjab and RCB. Rs. 2.40 Crore to Rs. 4 Crore....  Henriques goes to Punjab for Rs. 4.2 Crore.

6.11 PM: Ben Cutting goes unsold. Tom Curran attracts bids from SRH and Delhi. Bid is up to Rs. 5 Crore in no time... SRH begins deliberating and Curran goes to Delhi at Rs. 5.25 lakh. Gurkeerat Singh goes unsold.

6.03 PM: Pawan Negi goes unsold. Kyle Jamieson is up next. RCB and Delhi take the bid up to Rs. 1 Crore. Both teams still in the fray as the bid quickly goes up to Rs. 6 Crore. Punjab enters with a bid of Rs. 7.75 Crore. Delhi drops out. RCB puts up a Rs. 10 Crore bid. Bid is up to Rs. 12 Crore with RCB. RCB rises the paddle for a Rs. 13 Crore bid. Scratch that. Rs. 14 Crore bid... Rs. 15 Crore bid....  RCB gets its man for Rs.15 Crore.

6.01 PM: India's Cheteshwar Pujara gets an opening bid of Rs. 50 lakh from CSK! And he is sold to CSK! A round of applause within the auction room as Pujara goes to CSK as he is back to IPL after 2014! Martin Guptill remains unsold.

5.57 PM: Rovman Powell, Shaun Marsh, Devon Conway, Rassie van der Dussen go unsold at base price of Rs. 50 lakh. Corey Anderson, Darren Bravo remain unsold at base price of Rs. 75 lakh.

Interestingly, we can only Mumbai and CSK camps are seen wearing masks in the auction room.

Australian pacers Richardson and Riley Meredith go for a combined Rs. 22 Crore to Punjab.

5.37 PM: M. Siddharth is sold to Delhi for Rs. 20 Lakh. Karanveer Singh remains unsold. Jagadeesha Suchith is sold to SRH for Rs. 30 lakh after a short bidding battle with Punjab.  K.C. Cariappa sold to Royals for Rs. 20 lakh. Sandeep Lamichhane remains unsold. Midhun Sudhesan and Tejas Baroka remain unsold.

Set number 10 (uncapped spinners)

5.36 PM: Tushar Deshpande remains unsold.

5.31 PM: Australia's Riley Meredith sparks bidding war between Punjab and Delhi. The bid goes up to Rs. 2 Crore with both teams retaining interest. Rs. 4 Crore bid. Punjab makes a Rs. 5 Crore bid for the 24-year-old pacer. The bid rises to Rs. 7.50 Crore with Punjab. Meredith is sold to Punjab for Rs. 8 Crore!

5.25 PM: Mujtaba Yousuf , Ankit Singh Rajpoot remain unsold. Lukman Hussain Meriwala is sold to Delhi for Rs. 20 lakh. Chetan Sakariya attracts attention from RCB and Royals. Sakariya goes to Royals at Rs. 1.20 Crore. Kuldeep Sen remains unsold.

Set number 9 (uncapped fast bowlers)

5.20 PM: Vishnu Vinod goes to Delhi at Rs. 20 lakh. Sheldon Jackson goes to KKR for Rs. 20 lakh. Kedar Devdhar remains unsold. Kerala's Mohammed Azharuddeen gets an opening bid from RCB and he is sold for Rs. 20 lakh. Avi Barot remains unsold.

Set number 8 (Uncapped wicketkeepers)

5.13 PM: Ayush Badoni, Iyer Venkatesh go unsold. KKR makes opening bid for Karnataka's K. Gowtham. Bid is up to Rs. 1 Crore from a base price of Rs. 20 Lakh with SRH and KKR in the mix. KKR raises the bid to Rs. 4 Crore... Rs. 5 Crore... Rs. 6 Crore.... Rs. 7 Crore...  CSK joins the bid at Rs. 7.75 Crore! CSK and SRH in a bidding war. Rs. 9.25 Crore with CSK for the moment. And K. Gowtham is sold to CSK for Rs. 9.25 Crore! Vivek Singh goes unsold.

 

5.06 PM: Ajit Sheth goes unsold. Ripal Patel is picked by Delhi for Rs. 20 lakh. Tamil Nadu's Shahrukh Khan is up next. Delhi and RCB enter into a bidding war. From base price of Rs. 20 lakh, Delhi makes a bid of Rs. 1 Crore. The bid is up to Rs. 2 Crore with Delhi! Rs. 3 Crore bid from RCB. Punjab and RCB are really keen on the hard-hitting all-rounder. RCB after little deliberation raises the paddle for Rs. 5 Crore bid and Punjab immediately follows up its bid. Shahrukh Khan goes to Punjab Kings at Rs. 5.25 Crore! Preity Zinta is happy with the winning bid! Interestingly, Shahrukh Khan's KKR made no bid for Shahrukh Khan...

Set number 7 (Uncapped all-rounders)

5.03 PM: Rahul Gahlaut goes unsold. RCB bids for Rajat Patidar and he is sold for Rs. 20 lakh. Himmat Singh remains unsold. Vishnu Solanki remains unsold.

5 PM: Himanshu Rana at a base price of Rs. 20 Lakh remains unsold. C Hari Nishaanth (Rs. 20 lakh) remains unsold. RCB with an opening bid of Rs. 20 Lakh for Sachin Baby and he goes to Bangalore!

We move to set number 6. (Uncapped batsmen)

We move to a five-minute break.

4.50 PM: Mumbai makes an opening bid of Rs. 50 lakh for Piyush Chawla. Delhi joins the bidding at the last moment. Mumbai table seemingly looked relaxed as they have a laugh. Bid now up to Rs. 2 Crore. Chawla is sold to Mumbai for Rs. 2.40 Crore. Afghanistan's Qais Ahmad remains unsold.

4.48 PM: Harbhajan Singh (Rs. 2 Crore) remains unsold! Ish Sodhi goes unsold.

4.46 PM: Adil Rashid goes unsold. Rahul Sharma at a base price of Rs. 50 Lakh goes unsold. Mujeeb ur Rahman (Rs. 1.50 Crore) remains unsold.

Set number 5 (Spin bowlers)

4.44 PM: Sheldon Cottrell goes unsold. Umesh Yadav next and Delhi makes a Rs. 1 Crore bid and he is sold to Delhi for the opening bid.

4.41 PM: MI and Delhi in a bidding war for Aussie pacer Nathan Coulter-Nile. Starting at a base price of Rs. 1.50 Crore and the bid is up to Rs. 4 Crore. MI buys him back for Rs. 5 Crore.

4.32 PM: RCB makes opening bid for Jhye Richardson. Delhi and Punjab enter the bidding. The bid is up to Rs. 3 Crore with Delhi. RCB makes a 4 Crore bid. Both teams are keen on Richardson while Punjab has dropped out. Rs. 5 Crore bid by Delhi. Punjab joins the bidding at Rs. 7.50 Crore with RCB still keen on its man. Rs. 9 Crore bid by Punjab. RCB raises bid to Rs. 10.25 Crore. Punjab makes a Rs. 12 Crore bid! Richardson famously got Virat Kohli out in three successive matches in the 2019 ODI series. Punjab makes a Rs. 13.50 Crore bid. Jhye Richardson goes to Punjab Kings at a whopping Rs. 14 Crore!

4.31 PM: Mustafizur Rahman is sold to Royals for his base price of Rs. 1 Crore.

4.27 PM: NZ's Adam Milne is up first. MI comes with an opneing bid of Rs. 50 Lakh. Royals joins the bidding. The bidding is up to Rs. 1.40 Crore with Mumbai. SRH comes in and Royals drop out. Milne goes to Mumbai at Rs. 3.20 Crore.

Set number four. (Fast bowlers)

 

4.25 PM: Former CSK player Sam Billings goes unsold. Sri Lanka's Kusal Perera (Rs. 50 Lakh) goes unsold.

4.23 PM: NZ's Glenn Phillips goes unsold. Australia's Alex Carey is next at Rs. 1.50 Crore base price. He remains unsold.

We are back. We begin with Set 3. (Wicket-keepers)

Mike Hesson, RCB's Director of Cricket Operations, on Maxwell's signing "We wanted someone in the finisher role. In 2017, where he was played higher up the order and he had his best IPL. We were after the X-Faxtor player."

4.03 PM: England's Dawid Malan is up next. Punjab Kings snaps him up at Rs. 1.50 Crore. Malan is the No.1 ranked batsman in T20I. Malan has averaged 53.4 across his 19 T20I knocks; the best rate of any man to log 10+ innings in the format.

3.48 PM: Chris Morris is next and Mumbai makes an opening bid at Rs. 75 lakh. RCB enters the bidding war. That escalated quickly. The bid is up to Rs. 7 Crore as RCB and MI go head-on. RCB raises the bid to Rs. 8.25 Crore! Mumbai takes it to Rs. 8.50 Crore... MI makes a Rs. 10 Crore bid! Royals have entered the bid and it's up to Rs. 12.75 Crore but Zaheer Khan raises the paddle to Rs 13 Crore. Punjab Kings enters the bidding at Rs. 13.50 Crore. Morris will now be the most expensive player of the 2021 auction, the bid is up to Rs. 14.50 Crore! Punjab makes a bid of Rs. 15 Crore. Morris is now the most expensive overseas player in IPL history and the bidding isn't done yet. Bid is up to Rs. 16 Crore by Punjab! Chris Morris goes to Rajasthan Royals at Rs. 16.25 Crore. He is now the most expensive signing ever in IPL auctions! Yuvraj SIngh was the previous expensive signing at Rs. 16 Crore by Delhi Daredevils (Delhi Capitals) in 2015.

3.44 PM: Shivam Dube is the next man. SRH and Royals are involved in a bidding war for the all-rounder. The bid is up to Rs. 3 Crore.  The bid is up to Rs. 4.40 Crore from Royals and sold!

3.37 PM: England's Moeen Ali is the next man. Punjab Kings makes the opening bid. CSK makes its bid for Moeen at Rs. 2.20 Crore. CSK rises the bid to Rs. 3 Crore. Punjab with a Rs. 4 Crore bid.  CSK takes the bidding up to Rs. 5 Crore. Punjab's management deliberating after CSK's Rs. 6 Crore. Punjab and CSK continues its bidding and its now up to Rs. 7 Crore with the latter. Moeen Ali is sold to CSK at Rs. 7 Crore! CSK fans would have liked what they saw of Moeen after he struck a 18-ball 43 against India in the Chennai Test earlier this week.

3.33 PM: Kedhar Jadhav goes unsold. Shakib al Hasan is up next. KKR makes an opening bid at Rs. 2 Crore. Punjab Kings is into the race. Shakib goes to KKR at Rs. 3.20 Crore.

 

3.18 PM: We begin with the 'Big Show', Glenn Maxwell! KKR comes in with a bid of Rs 2 Crore. Royals joins in. RCB is into the mix. The bid is up to Rs. 4 Crore from RCB. CSK makes a bid for Maxwell at Rs. 4.60 Crore! CSK makes a bid of Rs. 6 Crore! CSK and RCB are in a tug of war for Maxwell!  Bid up to Rs. 7.50 Crore. CSK makes a bid of Rs. 9 Crore. CSK's bid stands at Rs. 10 Crore. The bid is up to Rs. 11.75 Crore from RCB. CSK raises bid to Rs. 13 Crore! CSK with the bid at Rs. 14 Crore... Maxwell is sold to RCB for Rs. 14.25 Crore! Oh my.. A 14-minute long bidding war comes to an end!  RCB's remaining purse now is Rs. 21.15 Crore.

We move to set number 2. (All-rounders)

3.16 PM: Australia's Aaron Finch is next at base price of Rs. 1 Crore. He goes unsold. Hanuma Vihari (Rs. 1 Crore) goes unsold.

3.15 PM: West Indies' Evin Lewis at a base price of Rs. 1 Crore goes unsold.

3.13 PM: Steve Smith is up next. Base price Rs. 2 Crore. RCB makes the opening big! Delhi comes in at the last minute with its bid. Steve Smith is sold to Delhi Capitals for Rs. 2.20 Crore!

3.12 PM: Alex Hales is next. Rs. 1.50 Crore. He goes unsold. His countryman and English opener Jason Roy is up next. He goes unsold.

3.10 PM: Hugh Edmeades is on the dias and we are about to commence the bidding. Karun Nair will be the first player to go under the hammer from the first set. Base price of Rs 50 Lakh. Karun Nair goes unsold.

3.08 PM: Brijesh Patel, IPL Governing Council Chairman, says  the tournament is keen to welcome back fans to the stadum for the 2021 edition. VIVO back as title sponsor for IPL 2021.
