Karnataka’s P. Keerthana won her first national title when she beat Tamil Nadu’s Anupama Ramachandran (109-90) in the sub-junior girl’s billiards competition of the 84th Manisha National Billiards & Snooker Championship at the PYC Gymkhana on Friday. Keerthana had earlier beaten Tamil Nadu’s Mariam Agnesh (88-83) in the quarterfinals and Janani (105-23) in the semifinals.
A class IX student of the Kendriya Vidyalaya BEML at Kolar, Keerthana is one of the three girls who practise at the KSBA in Bangalore. "There is no ranking for sub-juniors in the State, but in the juniors Varshaa Sanjeev and myself are ranked. I started playing billiards and snooker because of my dad; he plays the game. I have won the billiards title, but I like snooker," said Keerthana after receiving the prize from Chaitrali Navare, a former State level badminton player.
Four girls from Tamil Nadu (Anupama Ramachandran, Mariam Agnesh, Janani, Mohitha, two from Madhya Pradesh (Sanvi Shah and Ishika Shah) and one each from Andhra Pradesh (B.Rushitha), Karnataka (P. Keerthana) and Rajasthan (Devanshi Gulandia) entered the sub-junior girls tournament.

Junior girls billiards final: Varshaa Sanjeev (Knt) bt Keerath Bhandaal (Del) 161-124.
