Shot- Pogba chests the ball down and gets a shot away. It is nowhere on target.
Shot- Cleiton makes a solo run, he shimmies and takes a shot a goal. He tried to curl the ball to the far-post but no power in Cleiton’s shot at all.
Shot- Kiyan shoots at goal on the turn but balloons his effort over goal. It was an ambitious effort to begin with.
It is now or never for East Bengal. It needs to start showing some intent because right now, the players look tired.
Morale has visibly dipped for the East Bengal players. The Red and Golds not creating anything from an attacking perspective.
ATK Mohun Bagan change- Kiyan replaces Liston.
Manvir Singh is the latest player to get a yellow card in the match.
Liston trying to find space inside the box but he is marked well and he ends up losing possession. Apart from that unfortunate own goal, East Bengal has been disciplined with its defending today.
McHugh sees the loose ball inside the East Bengal box and goes for a first-time shot. The effort is nowhere near the target.
Chance- Kyriacou’s finds Cleiton with an accurate cross from the right. Cleiton guides the ball towards goal with his head but it goes straight to Kaith.
Ashique’s first-time volley not on target. The intent was good but volleys are always difficult to pull off.
Aniket tries to get the better of Subhasish with his quick feet but the latter stands his ground and uses his upper body to stop Jadhav in his tracks.
East Bengal in danger for a moment as Kauko almost got a clear shot at goal but the most delicate of touches by the East Bengal defender takes the ball to Kamaljit.
Liston’s cross from the left flank is intercepted by Ivan and the ball goes out for a East Bengal corner. Good defending by the Spaniard.
Liston needs to be careful. Clearly showing his discontent with the referee. Might cost him that.
Emami East Bengal change: Amarjit comes in for Souvik
ATK Mohun Bagan change: Manvir comes in for Boumous
Boumous with an unnecessary elbow on Pritam- he is very lucky not to see a second yellow for that. He needs to be careful.
Block- A melee inside the box from a Hugo Boumous freekick. East Bengal could not clear the ball and it falls straight to Pogba. Pogba catches the shot well but is cleared off the line by Kyriacou.
Save- A massive save by Kamaljit! Ashique had a clear shot at goal and he goes for it. Kamaljit makes himself big and gets a strong right fist to make the save.
A solo run by Liston ends with a lazy shot by the player. The shot is blocked and East Bengal clears.
Chance- A great move by East Bengal. Cleiton floats a wonderful ball towards Passi, who had made a run inside the box. Ideally he should have headed it back to the centre but Passi goes for goal with his head and misses. The angle was very tight.
Close- Kaith comes out and punches away Souvik’s freekick. The ball falls straight to Aniket who hits it first-time. A venomous strike but unfortunately, not on target.
Booking- Asish Rai shown the yellow card for an outstretched arm that catches Ivan on the face. Lucky to escape with just a yellow.
Stephen Constantine makes his intention clear with the half-time changes. Three attacking players right from the start of the second half.
IN- Himanshu Jangra, Cleiton Silva and Aniket Jadhav
OWN GOAL- ATK Mohun Bagan takes the lead courtesy of an own goal by Passi. Unfortunate for East Bengal but the Mariners will take it. The goal came from a ATKMB corner taken by Liston Colaco. It was not defended well by EEB and Passi was taken by surprise when the ball hit him and creeped inside the net.
Booking- McHugh is shown yellow for his foul on Passi.
Asish is bundled over near the right side corner-flag. He looks to the referee for a freekick but doesn’t get one.
Boumous almost finds Kauko with an accurate low ball from the right flank but the East Bengal defence is alert and clears before the Finland international could get his shot away.
Booking- Hugo Boumous shown the yellow card by the referee for protesting.
Asish Rai with a chance to trouble Kamaljit but a disappointing shot from him.
Boumous delivers a dangerous ball from a corner but East Bengal does well to clear. Kamaljit came off his line to get a touch. Asish Rai hits on the follow-up but it is miles off target.
Shot- Ivan Gonzalez hits one from distance. The shot had power but lacked accuracy. Kaith untroubled. But much better for East Bengal from an attacking perspective.
Asish Rai looks to make a run from the right flank after playing a one-two with Liston but the former is flagged for offside.
Shot: A mispass allows Colaco to pounce on the loose ball. He takes a shot from distance but it is wayward. He took that with his weaker foot.
Ashique almost finds Liston with a grounded cross from the left flank. But the ball is behind Liston as he made the run.
Asish seems okay to continue. It was concerning at first but he looks fine after some medical attention.
An ATKMB move which looked like it could threaten- Asish Rai tries to find Liston inside the box from the right flank. But East Bengal defends calmly and clears the ball. Asish however, has gone down.
ATKMB with more the ball but East Bengal has been disciplined with its defending.
Ashique taking on the East Bengal defence by himself- he twists and turns and gets his shot at Kamaljit’s near-post. However, he does not test Kamaljit by missing the target.
A good phase of pressure by ATKMB. Kauko does well to dispossess Chungnunga and pass it Liston. But Liston cannot bring the ball under control and it is cleared. Eliandro tries to initiate an attack but is fouled.
Souvik finds Jerry with a long diagonal but the latter cannot control the ball and ends up losing possession.
Ashique trying to get a cross in from the left but he is closely marked by Kyriacou. In the end, Ashique runs out of ground and it is a goalkick for East Bengal.
Liston already looking to trouble from the left flank. He is getting a cheer from the fans whenever he gets a touch.
The game has not started fluently. Lot of silly fouls being given in the early stages. Just what you expect from the Derby.
A fiery start to the game in the first minute already. Boumous catches Kyriacou inside the East Bengal penalty box with a high boot and it is a freekick to the men in Red and Gold Brigade.

Match Preview
ATK Mohun Bagan will be looking for three points when it meets rival Emami East Bengal, in the first 'Kolkata Derby' of the season in a Durand Cup Group B league fixture, at the Salt Lake Stadium here on Sunday. Going by the form and fitness of the two opponents in the new season, there are no clear favourites in the upcoming tie.
But on the charts, ATK Mohun Bagan keeps a better shape having been able to preserve a big part of the squad that reached the semifinals of the previous edition of the Indian Super League. Ever since ATK and Mohun Bagan got merged as a new entity in 2020, it has won all five meetings with East Bengal. This may be going to be the fact again as East Bengal returns to the contest with a new investor in Emami and very limited time to invest in the team’s preparation under the former National coach Stephen Constantine.

ATK Mohun Bagan suffered a reverse (2-3) in its first outing of the season against a very young and spirited I-League side Rajasthan United. ATKMB's Spanish coach Juan Ferrando realised that the domestic component – the Indian players – of the team is still recovering from the ravages of the previous season.
In its current form, the team’s attack greatly struggled in the finishing department despite dominating a greater part of the action in the attacking third.
The story was repeated in its second match, which ended in a 1-1 draw against Mumbai City FC. Manivir Singh, Asish Rai, Ashique Kuruniyan and even Liston Colaco appeared to be suffering from sluggishness when they were presented with a scoring opportunity. This may be the advantage that the opponent will be counting on in the battle for bragging rights.
“We will go for a win. Everyone wants to play and perform better than last season. Of course, the team is still going through preparations and I hope they are ready for a better showing in the next match,” Juan Ferrando said after the team’s practice.
While ATK Bagan has been among goals (scoring three so far), Emami East Bengal has managed to play two goalless draws much to the discomfort of Constantine, who got very little time for pre-season preparations with the hurriedly-assembled side.
“We have started later than everybody else and are still trying to get match fitness. Hopefully, the match against ATK Mohun Bagan will give us the opportunity to find our form,” said Constantine on the eve of the match.
East Bengal, which last won the Derby in January 2019, will have to get itself together and bring up a performance that can break the resolve of an opponent which has both quality and class on its side.
