National shotgun selection trials: Prithviraj Tondaiman takes top spot in men’s trap

In women’s trap, Shagun Chowdhary takes first place, defeating Rajeshwari Kumari.

Prithviraj Tondaiman continued to assert his class and growing confidence by winning the third selection trials in trap at the National shotgun selection trials that concluded at the OASIS range on Friday.

He won 46-43, defeating former world champion Manavjit Singh Sandhu.

Manavjit had topped qualification with 120, one point ahead of Prithviraj, while third-placed Vivaan Kapoor and Olympian Kynan Chenai shot 118. Asian Games silver medallist Lakshay Sheoran was below par with a total of 112.

In women’s trap, Olympian Shagun Chowdhary pipped Rajeshwari Kumar once again, by one bird, 42-41. Rajeshwari had topped qualification with 110, two points better than Shagun.

The shotgun teams for the World Cups will be chosen based on the scores from the National championship and the three selection trials.
