Welcome to Sportstar's ISL blog of the match between SC East Bengal and ATK Mohun Bagan at the Tilak Maidan in Vasco (Goa).

We are on to the weekend's clash. It could have been Albert Roca going up against his former club Bengaluru FC and assistant Carles Cuadrat, before FC Barcelona came calling. But there is some elements of Roca set in place at Hyderabad FC as it looks to defend its 100 per cent record against the Blues, who are looking for the first win of the season. The talking points will be live soon on the site. Until then, its good night from us.

It's been a whirlwind start to the ISL season with matches coming in one day after another. If you happened to miss the action from the first gameweek, Shyam Vasudevan and Aashin Prasad have reviewed the first five matches in our 'Full Time Show' podcast.

Habas at the presentation, " I think the team had good performance. We were better than the opponents tonight and I have to congratulate my team for that. In my team, I don't have prejudice about Indian or foreign players. He has fantastic potential. We are vry happy with him. Today, he was fantastic and he is a good professional."

Robbie Fowler at the presentation , "You have seen a glimpse of what kind of team we can be. We can cause problems to other teams, We weren't overawed against the team who were champions last year. There is ot to improve on despite this poor result. It was our first gae together and we didn't have pre-season game which showed. First 45 minutes were good and we got better. In terms of performance it wasn't that bad. Staff and management will look to build confidence. [On if EB has the squad strength] Who told you we were looking for a marquee striker? Don't believe every humor you hear. We have the squad what we got. It's tough with the squad we got and we were the last team to put a squad together. We will go again."

SECOND HALF

FULLTIME. Bragging right and three points for ATK Mohun Bagan. Manvir on his knees after the whistle. The Bagan fans on the fan wall are happy with the result. It wasn't a thrilling affair to match the build-up of the game but it had its moments in what was a fresh chapter in the historic rivalry. ATK Mohun Bagan was characteristically ATK Mohun Bagan with its dogged defence, hitting on the break and Roy Krishna's lethal feet. ATK Mohun Bagan moves top of the table after the win after two victories in two.

90' +2' Manvir, again on the break, runs in from the right to the centre over 45 yards but his shot from outside the box is not on target.

90' +1' Angou goes for the spectaculr from distance but he can only find the stands.

Four minutes of added time

87' Tiri goes into Jhingan after a push from Pilkington on the back.

85' GOAL! Manvir Singh with a memorable strike!  Game Over! ong ball down the right channel for him to run onto and he shakes off his marker. He has all the time on the right to check, cut on to his left foot and rifle a shot into the left top corner! He lies on his backside with his arms loft.

84' ATKMB SUB: Javi OFF, Glan Martins ON

82' SAVE! Pilkington with a curling effort from outside the box and Arindam needed a diving effort at full stretch to push it behind for a corner. Arindam did well to redeem himself after his back pass was intercepted by Pilkington inside the box. Tiri had to cover and block the threat.

81' Passing from both teams have been sloppy. East Bengal failing to break through the lines to meet their forwards.

Ten minutes left for East Bengal as it pushes on for the equaliser.

79' SCEB SUB: Angou ON, Loken OFF

Final drinks break of the game. Can East Bengal somehow manage to get a point from this game?

75' Tiri goes down with a nudge from Pilkington. Freekick in favour of Mohun Bagan.

71' Yellow card for Narayan Das for climbing over Roy Krishna to win the header. Narayan can't quite understand what he did wrong there. McHugh, yet again, misses his header as he peeled away to back post to meet the free-kick.

SCEB SUB: Balwant OFF, Rafique ON

65' McHugh's leaps high to meet the corner kick but he can't dorect it towards goal.

ATKMB SUBS: Jayesh, Williams OFF; Halder, Manvir ON

63' Maghoma makes room on the left side and fizzes a fierce shot with his left foot. If he managed to keep it on target it would have needed some save from Arindam.

59' Sublime flick from Pilkington to set EB on a counter. Balwant gets a ball on to his left foot inside the box but he blazes over with his volleyed effort. Time for Jeje to come on?

58' SCEB SUB: Abhishek Ambekar comes on for Rana Gharami

56' Javi with a mazey from the left into the middle but he had too many bodies to get past and ends up running into traffic.

54' Jhingan cleans up Surchandra with a tackle. No card though.

Fowler is in conversation at the bench for a plan B to get back into this game. Rafique is given last minute instructions from the tactics manual before coming on.

49' GOAL! ROy Krishna is the man again for Mohun Bagan! Another left-footed goal for the Fiji striker. He loves a big game. Javi does well to attract two men outside the box and his pass is deflected by Steinman to Krishna, who takes a touch and smashes it straight down the middle. What was Debjit doing there. He should have definitely got a hand to that.

48' Long ball played by Tiri for Krishna to chase down but it's too long for him to get on to the end of.

46' ATK Mohun Bagan begin the second half from left to right.

A tense first 45 minutes with both teams having some good moments. SC East Bengal had the best chance of the half but the EB 'keeper Debjit had to be alert and pull off a sharp save to keep out the ball from going into his team's net.  Robbie Fowler's East Bengal has dominated possession here and the passing from the back will need some work over the course of the season.

Here's the Robbie Fowler interview where he spoke with Shyam Vasudevan on his signing for EB, his coaching style and more.

FIRST HALF

45' +2' Maghoma wins a corner in the final seconds of the first half. Poor corner and ATK Mohun Bagan regroup to deny any space for Pilkington to have a shy at goal from distance. The referee blows the whistle for the half-time break.

2 times of added time

45' Rane gives away the ball with a backheel and ends up fouling Steinman from behind in trying to win possession back. He is booked for that challenge.

42' Good spell of possession play from Mohun Bagan ends with Jayesh Rane balzing over into the stands from distance. He has the capability of a spectacular now and then.

38' Chance for Balwant! Surchandra twists away from his marker on the right and hooks in a cross into the six yard area which needed an EB forward to nod it into goal. Balwant comes in behind Pritam but he doesn't get the right connection.

Bhaichung Bhutia is on the fan wall screen and he seems engrossed.

36' SAVE! Javi somehow conjures an opportunity inside EB's box and draws a one-handed save from Debjit to push it behind for a corner.

33' Some fortune for Meiti as the ball drops onto his path and he cuts on to his left foot for a shot. The shot, however is deflected behind for a corner. The short corner falls into the six yard box but luckily for Mohun Bagan, no EB players are around to get on to it.

Drinks break taken.

30' Chance for East Bengal. Narayan Das hooks in a high cross into the ATKMB box which needed Maghoma to direct his header on target. He mistimes his leap and ends up putting his header off target.

29' ATKMB getting a foot-hold into this game courtesy of some sloppy passing from the back by East Bengal. Prabir's teasing cross into the face of the goal needed Debjit to get a finger tip on to push it away from danger.

26' Wing-back Prabir makes a darting run inside East Bengal's box and his cut-back needed a crucial block from Fox.

24' Maghoma, playing as the right forward in the 3-4-3 formation, does well to track back the run of Javi and earn a foul for EB.

22' Balwant goes into the referee's note-book. Yellow card for catching the leg of Javi.

60 per cent possession for East Bengal

20' Pilkington with a left-footd drive from distance and Arindam collects it low to him.

17' Meiti cuts in from left and plays in an inviting across across the face of goal for wing-back Surchandra to get at the end of. There is too much pace on the ball and the ball runs behind for a goal-kick.

14' Pritam Kotal and Tiri with superb full-stretch interceptions to deny Balwant runs at goal.

11' Foul on McHugh for a high boot by Steinman. Free-kick from over 40 yards out.  Jayesh Rane's effort from distance is blocked. Williams is played down the channel and puts in a fizzing low cross, which is too quick for Krishna to get on to and Debjit collects with both hands.

7' Early shout for a penalty inside ATKMB's box. Pilkington went down inside the box with Tiri seeming to catch his legs. Referee says no penalty. Tiri thought Pilkingotn went down too easy and expresses his displeasure to the forward.

5' ATKMB is looking for the long balls down the channel, the flick on headers to chase on. East Bengal seeking to progress the ball out from the back with its centre-backs.

It looks like three at the back for East Bengal. Neville, Fox and Gharami are the three central defenders.

2' Corner for ATK Mohun Bagan. The flat corner is cleared away from the EB box.

1' It's kick off at Tilak Maidan. East Bengal play from left to right. It seems a bit surreal with no supporters in the stands.

East Bengal players get into a huddle with skipper Fox leading the team talk.

The players observe a moments silence in honour of Indian football legends Chuni Goswami and PK Banerjee, who passed away earlier this year.

This transformation is the result of a metamorphosis in the two teams’ ownership pattern but the change does little to dent the intensity of the rivalry that is almost a century old now. Acknowledged as the biggest and the oldest footballing rivalries in the continent, the Kolkata Derby is certainly going to be a big asset for the country’s top league in terms of popularity.
